marigold collecting, horseback lessons, backyard tea, seed saving, backyard harvest, bright fall-blue sky clear as can be, hanging at LEAF (Lake Eden Arts Festival), and dipping leaves in beeswax.
Beautiful pictures. Are those blossoms marigolds? Are you just seed saving or do you make a tea or tincture or something with them. Your blog is really a blessing. Thank you.
thank you, Terri~ Yes, they are marigolds! We are saving seeds from marigolds, but when I do that I just wait until they get older and pull the seeds right out and store them in a jar. These were collected for a Day of the Dead party we hosted this past weekend. SUCH fun.
I have a tiny little crockpot that I found at the thrift store (it only has one setting- it is either ON or OFF) that I think must be intended to be a small fondue-type pot. I just put a bit of beeswax in it, plug it in, and a little while later it is all melted and I just dip the leaves in while I hold onto the stem. And voila! Hold them upside down for a few seconds to allow excess wax to drip off and to start the hardening process, then lay on newspaper and let dry. :)
Wonderful memories to treasure.
