wood, eggs, apples

the woodshed is full, the eggs are coming in just a touch slower, and there are apples.  everywhere.
I find myself reaching for a light sweater in the evenings and mornings, sometimes.  I am happy though, that there is still warm sunshine enough to feel the heat of it on my shoulders and bask in it's warmth and power.

September, I feel you.

    1. oh YES! and it's 44 degrees tonight so I was tempted to have the first fire of the year but Mike is at work and I think we all need to be home for that, so instead I closed all the windows and the house is a reasonable 64 degrees.

  2. We went apple picking in the rain this morning. Sixty pounds of apples. With in minutes of purchasing them my husband says "you spent $62 on apples I better get a pie." So that's what I am doing today. I'm leaving the hard work for tomorrow! "Apples, apples everywhere please let me have just one."

    1. haha! yeah I'd say that warrants at least one good pie. we are yet to make one, we've been doing cider and apple rings instead. but I think very very soon there will be pie.

  3. Your eggs are so pretty. These are from your hens, right? I wish we could have hens here but my neighbor has wild cats so I don't want harassed hens keeling over from a heart attack. I miss apples. Trader Joe's hasn't had any organic ones besides Costco. I keep forgetting about Whole Foods.

    1. thank you! and yes, they are from our hens. I'd think if you had them well contained you'd be able to keep hens safe from crazy cats, but it sounds like it could be a hassle....

it is nice to be in apple season in apple growing country, for sure~

  4. I heard that the rain is going to move out next week, the highs will only be in the 80's and the lows might see 60! I am thrilled.
