jersey fresh

on our way back down to NC from Maine we stopped in NJ for several days.  a couple days at nana and pipop's house (4H fair, jersey fresh corn, meals with family) and then it was on to the beach for a few more.  they'd rented a big old house that was once a hotel in Ocean Grove.  I'll be honest, before we left Maine I was thinking how it'd be hard to go from quiet, idyllic coastal Maine to the jersey shore.  but alas, there is much to be said for NJ beach towns as well.  it is a whole different experience, and it is great in it's own way.  it is somewhat kitschy and it is a lot crowded.  it is without a doubt louder and there is much more glimmer and bling, generally.

but oh the people watching.  I passed a good bit of time on the front porch of the rental just watching the world go by.  papa was quite ill at this point in our trip and so there was a fair amount of time spent fretting over his high fevers and such as well, but vacation-y moments were still had.  walks to the beach, a couple good swims, a solo morning walk down the boardwalk to Asbury Park, some reading, delicious seafood, watching her with her cousins, and a couple big chocolate malts.

not bad, jersey shore.  not bad at all.
