and then, sun
eleven days of rain and then today, sun. blue sky, warm (hot, even) sun on my shoulders........ it was as if someone flipped a switch and said "okay, you may go back to the regularly scheduled programming that is glorious October days".
and so we exploded out the back door after breakfast and each got down to business. for him it was tackling more wood splitting, for me it was creating a new garden bed, mucking out the chicken yard and spreading new clean hay, and spreading mulch in new garden paths. and the littlest one tended her fairy garden, half-heartedly helped me make the new bed, and ate snacks on the deck. looking ahead in the forecast it looks like sunny days for the most part and I am glad. the yard smells a little weird, a little...... fishy? rotten? I'm not sure whether it's the chicken yard or the rabbit shit I spread on the garden beds, or some animal that crawled under something and died in the storm, but whatever it is I'm sure a little warming up and drying out will help.

Sounds like a productive day. We had a week of glorious October days with sun and now we are back to rain and more is forecast.
ReplyDeletewhile of course the rain is needed and even quite wonderful when in balance, I am definitely happy with our recent return to October glory~ wishing you a good balance of sunshine and rain!
DeleteSunshine after the rain is always such a divine thing, is't it? Sound like a perfect day to me (minus the rotten, fishiness, of course)!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, indeed!
Deletethankfully, the smell has gone away! I think it was the the rabbit poo I had added to the beds that then got all....... soggy
The sun showed it's face for a few minutes last evening, but then disappeared. .It is overcast right now, but I heard we will see the sun this afternoon, I can't wait!
ReplyDeletewishing you sunnier days ahead, friend!
Deleteit's amazing what a little bit of sunshine will do for the soul.
ReplyDeleteoh yes. yes, yes, yes!
Deleteand sometimes, truly, I find the rain just as soul-soothing and comforting, if not more so. but oh I was happy to see the sun again!
oh my that smell... So glad it will be dry when I get there. I started to worry for a day or too.
ReplyDeleteha! yeah no worries... it's all gone now. apparently a heavy dose of rabbit poo on your beds right before eleven straight days of rain leads to a fairly stinky garden.... who knew?
Deletesee you soon!
