bits and pieces

yours truly
monarch life cycle stamped all the way up her arm- compliments of monarch event at the arboretum
tomatillos, okra, beets, and eggs
tithonia, sans outer petals
farm bouquet
a couple more baskets of goodness from the farm gig
I do so love straw flowers.....
and introducing...... our new feline friend.  we have yet to settle on a name, but I'm leaning heavily towards Oliver/Ollie.  or maybe Sam.  Cider and Cedar were other mama favorites but papa wasn't feeling it.  he is sweet, so so sweet. and incredibly soft and very inclined to finding my lap and resting his cozy weight in it for a good, long time.

  1. Love the new addition to your family. It is wonderful that you are still harvesting such a wide variety. I just love the farm bouquet.

    1. the farm bouquet was such fun to make. castor pods, zinnias, jerusalem artichoke flowers....... there are so many beautiful and vibrant flowers there! and yes, kitty is settling in nicely. a very sweet addition.

  2. A handsome cat - l love the gray and white. I also like your short hair. I'm thinking of cutting mine a bit; it has been feeling heavy lately.

    1. I agree- he is quite handsome. I found myself drawn to another grey and white like Ziggy was, I admit. this kitty (Oliver, we decided) is a little guy- just shy of 10 pounds.

thank you! Claire and I both cut off significant amounts for a donation in June, but then I recently went back and took off another couple inches. I'm feeling it! When it was long it was always, always up in a messy bun. now it's down and feels nice and light.

  4. Ah. So jealous of your new feline friend. I spend half my days chasing the neighbor's cat away - she loves to stalk my bird feeders. I would love a good lap cat. Cider and Cedar are excellent names. Hmm... Chutney? Going back to the apple theme, if I had a new feline friend who was so sweet, I might just name him Pippin. That's a sweet name, no?

    1. he is quite a sweetie. it's funny though- I am finding that I'm really having to get used to having a different (not Ziggy) cat. Ziggy had a strong and very particular 'personality'- so it's fun, and funny, to be learning a new feline. we decided on Oliver (or Ollie for short). my favorites were Cider and Cedar, Claire's favorites were Thistle and Granite, and Mike was somewhat ambivalent except for knowing he did NOT like certain names ;) Pippin is a very sweet name, too.
