checking in

so I'm up north for a friend's wedding and we're having a great visit with friends and family.  there was a trip to our favorite living history farm, some good visiting, and papa and I even made it into the city (NYC) for about 28 hours, just the two of us.  that's our first kid-free night away since the little miss was born and man I hope we can fit another in before four and half more years pass by because it was pretty great.  mostly food and walking miles and miles.  good stuff.  really good.  marriage medicine, for sure.

there's been some bocce ball and yesterday was the spa and fabulous dinner out for the girlfriends of the soon-to-be bride.  that spa deserves some more attention here as it was a very funny experience.  think russian/turkish spa and bath house.  that was probably in it's heyday about 30 or 40 years ago.  a memory-making experience, no doubt.  a cookout with good friends.  more to come.  hopefully taking Claire to the boardwalk for her first time (as in the jersey shore funnel cake and games and skeeball kinda boardwalk), we'll see.  I'd share photos but I left the cable that allows my camera to play nicely with my laptop at home, so for now, just a quick little check in.  I hear it has rained a bit at home, which makes being away from the garden a little bit easier.  the cat and chickens and bees I don't worry about so much, but that garden can be hard to leave.

cheers from nj~

    1. it has been nice to really slow down a bit during this visit instead of the typically rushing all over that we do when we come up. tomorrow morning we head home and that will be sweet too after so many days away!

    1. yes, overdue for sure! we've both been away on our own and with Claire, just not together without her. she was very happy staying with her nana and we had a great time eating our way around manhattan and brooklyn. AH! YAY! I so didn't expect to win them and I'm so excited that I did! thankyouthankyouthankyou.
