a chronicle of our days and half-time efforts at (sub)urban homesteading, musings on parenting, and a whole lot of the mundane, humdrum bits.

haircuts, a robin's egg, flowers
we got our hair cut (and donated our braids) last week, she and I. she sent off 7 inch braids and mine were 10 inches. we are both enjoying our cooler summer cuts and I'm getting somewhat used to not being able to pull my hair back. probably about 98% of the time before my hair was in a perpetual messy bun.
since we've been home from NJ we've been spending loads of time taming the garden. before we left, many of the flower beds were just beginning to look like they were almost ready to burst, and by the time we got back...... boom! it's a riot of color out there.
cheers and happy summer from our home to yours!

What pretty hair cuts and such a lovely thing to donate your braids. Some beautiful blooms, always a delight to see.
ReplyDeletethank you! I think I could stare at the flowers for hours. actually, maybe I'll bring a sketchbook out and try to capture them that way soon.
DeleteMy youngest son is growing his hair to donate and I have to say I will miss it when it is gone, but someone else will be gifted with it so that warms my heart. I love your daughter's hat - reminds me of my Holly Hobby days as a girl! You two look so sweet and I really like the short cut.
ReplyDeleteBeing up here in Nova Scotia the weather is still on the mild side. Summer seems reluctant to show up. But nonetheless, the lupins are in full bloom as well as the wild roses, Solomon's Seal and oh goodness, all of those ferns! The ferns may not flower but we love them so!
Your garden is beautiful with all of the lovely colours! An oasis!
the first time she got a hair cut, a year ago, she got about 9 or 10 inches cut off and that braid I kept! (someone asked if I wanted to donate it and I said yes, I will be donating it to a little box of treasures)
Deleteoh I do love ferns! and lupines! Miss Rumphius is one of Claire's favorite books.
