After sticking with straight needles and things either square or rectangular, I am moving on into the world of circular needles and learning about decreasing and such. not so bad. and I was so intimidated. maybe one day I'll work up to a sweater or something like that. a shawl, perhaps. first, more hats.
Hats are good! I love the yellow colour – so sunny and bright and cheery!
ReplyDeleteyes indeed~ very fun for these grey and misty winter days!
DeleteGo girl. That's a start.
ReplyDeleteYay, way to go!!! I remember how long I stayed away thinking it would be so hard, sometimes you just gotta jump, right? It opens so many possibilities in the world of knitting once you do jump. Enjoy! Love the yellow. I just knit myself a yellow hat :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the encouragement, Kim! I actually just tried to start a little red one for Claire and something went wrong and I pulled it all out. gonna try again soon! then one day, a cardigan for moi!
DeleteIf you can knit a hat you can knit a sweater, promise!
ReplyDeleteThe hat looks amazing!
PS- You can always call me if you have any questions and I will do my best to help. The Annabel Cardigan would be an easy one to learn on.

aw, thanks Tracey! oh how I wish we lived closer to each other- I'd be knocking on your door asking for knitting help more often than you'd like ;) thanks for the link- I'll check it out. a cardigan for myself is my goal!
DeleteThat yarn looks so warm and fuzzy! Yes keep working at it! I did the same thing for so long. Now I've knitted hats scarves, cowls and sweaters. Now I need to tackle socks and gloves or mittens.
ReplyDeleteuntil now it's been all scarves and (stitched together) cowls. I'll probably knit a few more hats and cowls this way and then try to move on to a sweater. I always think socks look so tricky- all that pattern-ing and tiny yarn…… but I suppose none of it is too bad once you just jump in!
DeleteA beautiful hat and love the spring colour, a real delight.
ReplyDeletethank you! the yellow seems nice and cheery for these grey winter days.
DeleteIt took me a long time to take the plunge and use circulars, but it really does open up new worlds! And it is fun!
ReplyDeleteoh I like it so much! love being able to just knitknitknit
DeleteNice! Love the color.
ReplyDeletethank you, Andrea!
DeleteMe too, for the first time! Knitting on both circular and double pointed needles at the moment (5 needles). I wear an involuntary comedy scared expression every time I pick up the piece (a cardigan...talk about jumping off the deep end). Yellow is my favourite colour right now.
ReplyDeleteoh I do love yellow- bright, bright yellow.
Deletewhen I have to use double pointed needles I feel like Edward Scissorhands.
Oh, I love yellow!! I've been working on a cowl for several months on circular needles. I am enjoying it and will like it even more once I can double drape it around my neck! 11 inches wide and 225 stitches/row. I might finish before I turn 40!
ReplyDeleteit is certainly one of the happiest of colors, isn't it? wow, that will be some cowl my friend! can't wait to see it!
Deletexo
beautiful hat and of course you could knit a sweater!!! I say do it :)
ReplyDeletewell thank you! and thanks for the encouragement. I reckon I just might dive in soon ;)
Deleteoh my goodness! that is the perfect hat! the brim, the shape, share were you found the pattern please please please :)
ReplyDeleteactually I cast on 102 stitches thinking maybe it'd be a simple cowl, then once it was about 5 or so inches long I decided I'd challenge myself and make a hat. a google search yielded this: http://creativemissy.com/archives/1192 (which I used for the decrease), and voila! a BIG comfy yellow hat.
