we stopped at the "owl tree" on the way up and she pretended to be an owlet. we saw a baby snake, took a couple rests, and then basked in the sunshine at the top and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that she made. we need to do this more often, this hike. especially given it's just a couple miles up the road from us. it'd be an excellent way to watch the scenery change with the seasons.
a chronicle of our days and half-time efforts at (sub)urban homesteading, musings on parenting, and a whole lot of the mundane, humdrum bits.

That looks like a stunning hike. And how awesome she is doing it on her own. I remember those hikes with my little man, getting back to the car at the end and realizing he didn't ask to go in the carrier at all. Now I just leave the carrier at home :)
ReplyDeleteDefinite yes on watching the change of seasons from there...wow!
we got rid of our carrier early this year, and I must say it's feeling good walking side by side these days!
Deletelove this hike- it's only a short drive away (a couple miles) and then up we go! no excuse to not go more often.
looks amazing and sounds like a great idea to take the trip during the year - dont forget to take pictures.
ReplyDeleteI will!
DeleteLooks like an amazing hike, a great achievement for her...
ReplyDeleteoh it really is~ she is so proud when we get up to the top, and then she tells people about it for days after.
DeleteWhat an incredible place you live!! Good for her doing it on foot - my one is walking a lot better these days now too, such a relief when they are not moaning and whining lol!
ReplyDeletethanks, Rach~ I do love it around here! she is so proud when she finishes the hike all on her own two feet, and prompting her along with reminders of how happy she'll be when she does helps decrease the moaning and groaning ;)
Deletenow that is an accomplishment and worth the view!!
ReplyDeleteyes indeed!
