lunch date

Claire and I went out for a little lunch date yesterday.  We had thai food in town and the carrot cut like a butterfly made us both smile.  We walked over to the library and then did some shopping for loved ones at a few of my favorite little shops.  Day turned to night and we looked at the sparkly lights and part of me wished the world stayed all dressed up for the holidays just a bit longer than it does.

But I suppose the fact that it is fleeting is part of what makes it so magical.  And serves as a reminder to us to slow down, take it in, breathe, and enjoy it all.  The lights, the love, the lunch dates, hot cocoa and Christmas cookies, each other.... all of it.

Would we remember that more often if the lights stayed up?

  1. Hehe, Sura and I too had a lunch date at Thai Basil last summer...she ended up spending the majority of the time hugging the life size buddha. Yup, still a huggin monster...had to peel her off a little boy at the playground yesterday, just when I thought we were growing out of that one!

  2. Well certainly there are worse habits to have to grow out of, eh?

This was the second time Claire and I had a little date at Thai Basil. Both times, I ordered the same thing, entree and appetizer, and both times the (same) waiter looked at me after I ordered and asked "too much for you?".

No, sweet Thai Basil waiter, we can handle it~ but thanks for looking out!
